Supervise a team of lab pack chemists, drivers, technicians, and office staff providing field services to customers in the retail, healthcare, industrial, pharmaceutical, and other businesses. Responsible for safe and accurate completion of day-to-day activities according to regulatory and safety compliance measures and operates in a productive and profitable manner in accordance with Clean Earth policies, practices, and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Manages all aspects of the lab pack field team including hiring, training, development, and performance in accordance with HR policies and practices.
Manage day-to-day activities of lab pack field team to ensure achievement of customer satisfaction while meeting quality, safety, regulatory and budgetary goals.
Conduct regular quality assurance customer visits
Ensure the appropriate and required documentation is complete and accurate to meet State, EPA, DOT and DEA regulations
Train, coach and counsel team members to achieve performance objectives. Prepare regular performance appraisals and goal-setting with subordinate staff according to company guidelines.
Acts as a technical resource for the team as well as customer service and sales.
Conduct regular meetings with staff
Monitor PTO of team and conduct annual performance reviews
Coordinate lab pack field projects as needed that may include high hazard services, HHW, or any business-related needs.
Ensures appropriate paperwork is completed and data is entered correctly in system including manifest and land disposal restriction forms.
Monitor and manage Field Services budget.
Assist in the development of field Standard Operating Procedures and follow up by ensuring implementation.
Support sales department in the implementation of new accounts, presentation of services, response to inquiries and technical information.
Assist in the development of training materials and training outlines and follow up by effectively executing the instruction.
Order supplies
Arrange transportation and schedule loads
Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management
*Basic Required Qualifications: *
Minimum an associate degree in an Environmental/Science field
3+ years of experience with hazardous waste and lab packing
Knowledge of RCRA and DOT Regulations as they relate to waste characterization and the transportation of hazardous waste
1+ years management/supervisory experience
Light t0 moderate travel with periodic overnights
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental/Science related field
Experience operating heavy equipment and driving a truck
Knowledge of in DEA Regulations as they relate to waste characterization and the transportation of hazardous waste
40 hour Hazwoper and 8 hour refresher certifications
3-yr HAZMAT DOT certification
Previous supervisory experience
Ability to manage/prioritize several tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
Strong communication skills to interact with customers and staff to provide information, explanations and/or instruction
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point
Willingness and ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions.
Willingness and ability to work safely in a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving vehicles, electrical current, and exposure to chemicals.
Willingness and abililty to wear company-provided personal protective equipment which may include eye protection, steel toed shoes, hard hat, Tyvek coveralls and full-face respirator.
